SharePoint Library Templates – An Overview
Libraries are typically defined by what is placed in them. Once your library is created, you can allow others to access the library besides adding content to it. In this tutorial, we will explain an outline of the features & functions of library templates so that you can select the most suitable library for your team.
Following is a list of the SharePoint library templates –
Document Libraries :-
These store the majority of SharePoint site’s documents and files. Document Libraries are the most typical type of document library.
Form libraries :-
This library template allows creating libraries that can store InfoPath form data. You can deploy this for storing submitted forms like purchase requests created by using Microsoft InfoPath client application or Forms Services
Asset libraries :-
This library can be used for sharing media assets like images, audio, and video.
Slide libraries :-
This library allows sharing of PowerPoint presentation slides. Once you upload slides to the Slides library, other users can use them in new presentations.
Wiki page libraries :-
This kind of library is used for wiki pages – collaborative web pages used by teams for sharing information in a highly interactive environment.
Picture libraries :-
You can use this library for sharing photos in a collaborative environment. Picture library uses properties and columns to define images. It has thumbnail views of all stored files.
Data connection libraries :-
These are used to store all trusted data connection information.
Report library :-
This specialized template allows creating libraries capable of storing spreadsheets and dashboards.
