SharePoint 2013 – How to Add/Delete Links in Top Link Bar

In SharePoint 2013, you can add links to the top link bar in two ways. Either you can drag and drop the links straightaway else you can proceed by using the Edit Links option.

In this tutorial, we will learn the method of adding and deleting links in the top link bar.

Following are the steps to add a link –

Step 1 :

Click “Edit Links

Step 2 :

Click “Link” to add a new link

Step 3 :

In the Add a Link window,

  • Enter the link description in “Text to Display” box (SharePoint Team in our case)
  • Enter the corresponding URL in the “Address” box

Click OK

Step 4 :

Once you see the new link added in the top bar, Click “Save

You can also drag and drop links in the top link bar as required. That’s the procedure to add links in the top bar.

In order to Remove a Link in top bar, proceed as follows –


Step 1 :

Click “Edit Links

Step 2 :

Click the “X” sign corresponding to the link to be removed. In our case, “Blog” will be removed
