Settings and Start Options Available in Content Section in SharePoint 2013 Workflow

In this tutorial, we will know about the Settings and Start options available in Content section.

Settings :-

  • You can quite easily select a task list as well as history list here. If you are assigning tasks anywhere within workflow, this is the place you can create them. These options are not provided by Reusable workflows.
  • There is a checkbox named “Automatically update the Reusable workflow status to the current stage name.”
  • With this specific box checked, this column will display the present status of workflow. In case a workflow has only a stage “Stage 1,” then once that workflow has run on a specific item, the corresponding value in this column displays as a hyperlink saying “Stage 1,”. You can click this link to get straight to workflow status page.

Start Options :-

Determine when a specific workflow will get initiated by correctly checking suitable boxes in the Start Options. Depending on your requirement, you can either select all or even any one of the available options.

You can choose for the workflow to run as per any of follows –

  • Manually
  • On item creation
  • When an item gets changed

By default, whenever a workflow gets created, it is set to be started manually.
