Deleting SharePoint 2013 Site Collection may be required at times. Consider the case when you create site collections for some meetings or projects. Once these projects or meetings get completed, it may be required to delete the site collections so as to eliminate the unnecessary chunk of information.
If you want to delete a SharePoint 2013 Site Collection, you just need to follow a few simple steps. Initially, make sure you have access to Central Administration.

Below are the steps for deleting Site Collection in SharePoint 2013 –

Step 1 :

Go to “Application Management”


Step 2 :

Click “Delete a Site Collection”


Step 3 :

In the Delete Site Collection page, select site collection from the dropdown by clicking “Change Site Collection”


Step 4 :

In the Select Site Collection dialog box, select the correct web application.
Also highlight the site collection you want to delete. In our case, we highlighted /sites/HR
Click OK to save changes


Step 5 :

Back in the “Delete Site Collection” page, click “Delete”


Step 6 :

A warning message will pop up asking for confirmation to delete the site and its contents permanently. Click OK to confirm deletion.
