How to Define Workflow for Content Type in SharePoint 2013

 

In order to track approvals pertaining to sales proposals much better, you may configure a suitable workflow on Sales Proposal content type. This workflow will track the approval process involved in case of each proposal being added to the SharePoint library.

 

In this tutorial, we will understand the procedure of defining workflow for content type in SharePoint 2013.

Step 1:

Go to administration page of Sales Proposal content type. Select Workflow settings to get redirected to Workflow Settings page.
 

Step 2:

Select link “Add a Workflow”. This will redirect you to “Add a Workflow” page
 

Step 3:

Next, select the template “Approval – SharePoint 2013”
 

Step 4:

Specify following details for the new Workflow

Click Next button. This will bring you to the page where you can enter remaining Workflow details

  • Finally, click Save. This will re-direct you to Workflow Settings page.
  • The workflow activity created by you launches whenever any new item gets created based on some content type.
  • Also a task is created only for you as you had selected your own name to be the approve for serial workflow.
