How to Create New Content Type in SharePoint 2013

Following are the steps involved in the process

Step 1:

Go to top level of site collection. Next, select “Site Settings” as displayed in the Settings menu. You will see that the Site Settings page now appears.
 

Step 2:

Select Site Content Types given under Web Designer Galleries group. You will see the Site Content Types page appears. Thus page lists all content types that are available within site collection.
 

Step 3:

Click “Create”. Now, New Site Content Type screen will appear.
 

Step 4:

Define the new content type using following details

Click OK. This will redirect you to administration page of the new content type.
 

From this administration page, you can very easily manage the different properties of content type like

  • Metadata
  • Workflow settings
  • Template

Step 6:

Go to breadcrumb navigational menu and select Site Content Types. This will return you to Site Content Types page.
 

Step 7:

Finally click “Create”.
 

Step 8:

Define the new content type using following details
