Concept Of Views In SharePoint 2013
In this tutorial, we will learn the basic concept about the different views related to a list or library. Typically, a SharePoint view displays information about a specific list in multiple ways.
Creating different views helps users by letting them access data in the format & style that is suitable for the manner in which they need to interact with the data.
Following are the main View types in SharePoint –
- Standard View
- Gantt View
- Calendar View
- Datasheet View
While some views in SharePoint display the entire list items, other SharePoint views show simply the specific items purely based on their current properties/metadata values.
Following points are critical in regard to list and views –
- Every list has one view at least
- Many lists come pre-configured with extra views
Based on your requirement, you can easily customize views. This allows users to find relevant information quickly and much efficiently. Imagine opening your telephone book and getting all the phone numbers that are pretty relevant to your needs. That’s exactly the sort of flexibility a custom view offers in SharePoint.
Besides customizing existing views, creating new views is also possible.
