How To Save A SharePoint List As A Template

Once your list is created, it can be used members of your organization. Depending on your need, you may save the list in form of a template. This will allow other teams to use it as the starting point, thereby avoiding the need to rather repeat all steps required to create the list from scratch.

 

Following are the steps to easily save a list/library as a template –

 

Step 1 :

Go to your Projects list

 

Step 2 :

Select “List Settings” from Lists tab to get redirected to Lists Settings page.

 

Step 3 :

Open up group of links for “Permissions and Management”. Next, select the option for “Save list as template”. Following page will appear as shown in figure

Step 4 :

Enter the template’s properties from following table –

Step 5 :

Click OK. This will create your template.

You will also get a message confirming successful completion of the operation. Your template will get saved in your site collection’s central list gallery.
