HOW TO IMPORT QUERY SUGGESTIONS FILE
As discussed in one of our other tutorials, query suggestions help users to easily search for the information they have been looking for. Just like it’s quite easy to create such query suggestions using notepad, importing them is also very much uncomplicated.
In this tutorial, we will explain the steps involved in importing a query suggestions file once you have created it successfully. Following are the steps for the same –
Step 1 :
Go to Central Administration
Step 2 :
Next, navigate to “Manage service applications” > “Search Service Application” > “Query Suggestions”
Step 3 :
Once the Query Suggestion Settings page opens up, select “Import from text file” in “Always suggest phases” dropdown
Step 4 :
Now you need to import your query suggestions file. For this, go to the “Import phrases for query suggestions” page and click Browse to import your query file
Step 5 :

Now in the Query Suggestion Settings page, click “Save Settings” to save the changes you have made
These are the steps to import query suggestions file in SharePoint 2013. It must be mentioned here that importing query suggestions will overwrite all existing query suggestions.
So, if you have some other query suggestions to import, you need to firstly export the existing ones, update them and finally re-import them back to prevent the files from being overwritten.
Also, there will be no overwriting effect on the automatically created query suggestions when you import new suggestions.
