General Settings For List And Library


In this tutorial, we will learn about the different general settings that exist for SharePoint list and library.


Validation Settings :-

At the list level, these settings allow you to compare two columns together.


Column Default Value Settings :-

This page allows seeing all columns having a default value set within a list. It enables you see all columns simultaneously, thus avoiding the need to open columns individually.


Audience Targeting Settings :-

With this setting, you can enable audience targeting for a list. This further allows you to easily specify a specific audience for each of the list item. These settings form a part of User Profile Services


Form Settings :-

For libraries/lists fully compatible with the InfoPath forms customization, Form setting allows you do following –

  • Enable form customizations
  • Revert back to default list views


Rating Settings :-

This document library-only feature allows enabling of ratings for content existing within the SharePoint library. When this setting is enabled, users will get the option to provide ranking for all content that’s stored within library.
