Form Libraries in SharePoint
Form libraries are typical libraries used for storing InfoPath forms as & when required. Microsoft InfoPath allows you to gather and share data by means of highly customizable electronic forms.
This application can be used to create form templates reflecting their data collection requirements without requiring any sort of code or special development capabilities. Microsoft InfoPath application renders it very easy to craft an electronic form suiting their precise needs by dragging & dropping different form elements onto a specific page.
It’s possible for users to complete InfoPath forms by making use of either of the following-
- The InfoPath application
- Browser using the SharePoint Server’s Enterprise Edition
InfoPath allows you to do following –
- Retrieve or submit data as required by connecting to external data sources like SharePoint lists, databases, or web services
- Customize the interface in different ways that are otherwise not possible with standard lists through the browser
- Use code for extending forms
You can easily promote entire data stored in InfoPath forms directly to the library in order to display the available data in views. In this way, you get more advanced reporting choices on the data that is contained in multiple forms.
This may prove to be highly advantageous especially in the case when you have to create some InfoPath form for collecting data from your portal users.
