Installation of Exchange 2016-Learning to Configure MAPI

  1. Search for PowerShell, and then do right click Exchange Management Shell and run as administrator
  2.

    Exchange Configure MAPI

  3. Enter the following  Get-mapivirtualdirectory |fl internalurl, identity and press enter

InternalUrl : https://ex.domain.local/mapi

Identity : EX1\mapi (Default Web Site)

By default internal url automatically is going to be named as https://EX1.domain.local/mapi and the identity is going to be EX\mapi Default website (where EX1 is mentioned name of your Exchange server). By default, automatically, this is not going to be added during certificate request, therefore then your users is going to have issue creating profile in Outlook. Such error might show up:

Exchange Server setting

You might observe, it passes autodiscover, however, fails to login to the mail server. As Outlook now connects thru MAPI it is going to look for the mapi virtual directory. In case default name is not in your certificate, it is going to fail to connect. To correct such issue run the following command:

Set-mapivirtualdirectory –identity “Ex\mapi (Default Web Site)” –internalurl

https://mail.domain.com/mapi
