The built-in malware filtering abilities of Exchange 2016 helps to secure and protect your network from malicious software which is transferred via email messages. All transactions and messages sent or received by your Exchange 2016 Mailbox server are duly scanned for malware (viruses and spyware) via using the built-in Malware Agent.
In case malware is detected, the message is truncated. Notifications can also be sent to senders or administrators while an infected message is deleted or not delivered. You can also opt to replace infected attachments with either default or custom messages which notify the recipients of the malware detection.
