Why was vRealize Or Chestrator Able to Deliver improved Administrative Powers?

The enhanced automation capabilities of vRealize Orchestrator can give administrators more flexibility when dealing with complex tasks. vSphere Web Client has been automated using tool, such as, PowerCLI or vRealize Orchestrator (previously known as vCenter Orchestrator) and now it is being used to perform several actions. When you want to modify a, for example, to add RAM, then you require several tools in order to automate modification of group of virtual machines like adding RAM. vRealize Orchestrator has come up as one of the easier ways and is being used by many administrators. It is mainly because of the graphical nature of designing workflows which does not require too much scripting knowledge. However, many administrators do not know that vRealize Orchestrator is the most convenient tool for completing tasks that usually can’t be completed with the vSphere Web Client.

Developing linked clones on vSphere:

The linked clone technology has been around for a while. Linked clone technology helps you a lot in creating VM clones. VM clone make use of central parent VM in order to read and write changes in the VM and enter these changes into a separate disk file that can be extended to add more data. Linked clones have helped save a lot of disk space in certain situations; for example, in building a test environment with a large number of machines and a small life time. These linked clones cannot be developed using the vSphere Web Client directly. To use this feature while developing linked clones, you have to either purchase Horizon View or the combination of vCloud Director and vRealize Automation which was earlier known as vCloud Automation Center.

Generating a snapshot based on a previous snapshot:

This additional tools is highly useful in the procedure of cloning a VM based on a particular snapshot. For that first import a vRealize Orchestrator package along with all the necessary actions and workflows. Once the importing of this package is done, execute the workflow named Clone from Snapshot. After executing the workflow you will have to select the snapshot to use it for the new clone. Then enter the name of the new VM and the folder to put the VM.

Then when the last window of the workflow appears, state the optional parameters such as the data store to use, and the host and resource pool for the clone. In case it is left unstated, the location of the original VM will be used. After completing the workflow, a VM will be created from the chosen snapshot.
