How to Convert a QuickBooks Accountant’s Copy File into a Regular QuickBooks Desktop Company File

If you find your QuickBooks Desktop company file’s data damaged, no available backup, and you have an Accountant’s Copy file i.e., .qba or .qbx, so the QuickBooks Desktop can convert the Accountant’s Copy to a working QuickBooks Desktop data .qbw file. Once the Accountant’s Copy gets created, then you will need to reenter the changes that you made to your company file.
Note: When you are trying to open and use an Accountant’s Copy from a client, then you can open and convert the Accountant’s Copy transfer file.

Here are the Steps to Fix the Issue:-

Note: You have to use QuickBooks Accountant to perform these steps. If you do not have QuickBooks Accountant 2014 or later, so ask your accountant to perform this conversion.

• For QuickBooks Accountant 2014

Step 1: Open your QuickBooks Desktop in the No Company Open screen.

Step 2: Go to the File menu, select Accountant’s Copy and Convert Accountant’s Copy to Company File.

Step 3: Now in the Open the Accountant’s Copy to Convert window, choose the Accountant’s Copy file you want to convert. (The file with a .qbx or .qba extension.)

Step 4: Click on Open.

Step 5: A dialog box with the details about the process and limitations will open. Click OK To continue.

Step 6: In the Name QuickBooks File window, enter the file name and the location of the copy you are about to create. Be sure that “Save as type” is set to .qbw.

Step 7: Click Save.

Step 8: A message prompt confirming the conversion will open.

Step 9: Click OK and you should be now in the new .qbw file.

• For QuickBooks Accountant 2015 and later

Step 1: Open QuickBooks Desktop to the No Company Open screen.

Step 2: Go to File and select Send Company File.

Step 3:Click Accountant’s Copy and then Convert Accountant’s Copy to Company File/QBW.

Step 4: In the Open the Accountant’s Copy to Convert window, and then select the Accountant’s Copy file that you want to convert. (This file has a .qbx or .qba extension.)

Step 5: Click Open.

Step 6: A dialog box with the details about the process and limitations will open then click OK to continue.

Step 7: In the Name QuickBooks File window, enter the file name & location of the copy that you about to create. Make sure the Save as type is set to .qbw.

Step 8: Then, a message prompt confirming the conversion will open.

Step 9: Click OK and you should be now in the new .qbw file.
